Maarten de Groot

An ex Airforce Helicopter Flight Engineer, Maarten de Groot first came to the industry in 1994 after a few years doing first sound, then lighting for the Concert Industry. His first few years in the Film industry were spent as a Spark, rising to the position of Best Boy. Then, after a few years in the Stunts and SFX dept, he moved over to the Grips Dept. in 2000, where, after a spell with Kevin O Reilly, and various other Key Grips, he opened his book as a Key Grip in 2005 with endorsement.

Having just finished a run of four features as Stunts and SFX engineer, and the fact that he is also a qualified TechnoCrane Grip/Tech and Remote Head Tech, we see why Maarten invoices as ‘NOT Just a Grip!’
